Governance Health Checks

The worst thing any governing body can do is wait to see what Ofsted thinks of their work. Supported self-evaluation allows you to get an external view of your work and knowledge and to put the necessary plans in place to fill any gaps in knowledge or performance. It also confirms excellent practice and gives confidence to governors.

What is a Governance Health Check?

A half day desktop review of your governor minutes for the past two years, your governance page on the website, governor school visit forms and any other documents you wish to submit as evidence of effective governance.

This is followed by a half day visit to school where I will interview three or four governors about their work questions and meet the clerk and the headteacher.

From this a detailed report will be prepared outlining the key findings, areas for development with suggestions on how to improve how governors work effectively. Advice will also be given on governor meeting agendas, minutes and policy reviews.

In addition, the report will include the foundations for a Governor Action Plan which can be used as evidence of governance development.

What our clients say...

By using a range of resources and skills, and in less than six months, she transformed membership and their working practices, built confidence and raised effectiveness. As a new head I felt supported. We were delighted to secure a good judgement in the subsequent Ofsted Inspection.
